Sunday Selections # 200

Image
Welcome back to Sunday Selections! This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock , as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs. The rules are very simple:- 1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title 2. link back to me, River , somewhere in your post 3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted. 4. hop on over to TheElephant’s Child to see more of her wonderful photos. Andrew , Jacki K and Kakka often join in. I usually go with a theme for my Sunday Selections and this week I have more of the flowers I saw on my walk from a couple of weeks ago. hibiscus , towering high above me.   not-a-flower, but very colourful, a little blurry, an Eastern Rosella , not often seen around here. There were two of them, they swooped in quickly as I was almost home again, so I raised

Wednesday's Words on a Friday

On Wednesdays , Delores, from Under The Porch Light, has a word challenge meme which she calls “Words for Wednesday”. She puts up a selection of six words which we then use in a short story, or a poem. I’m hopeless at poetry so I always do a story. It’s a fun challenge…why not join in? Delores is taking a break from the challenge for a few weeks, so I'll put up a piece or six that I wrote on my own without words from Delores, and hope I haven't featured them before.  Here is my story: "Joseph Raphael Davidson! Just where do you think you're going?" Joe froze, his hand on the doorknob already turned to open. "I was just gunna see Butch for a minute." "Oh no, no, no" she said. "That dog was down by the pond this morning, he's still filthy and you're already in your best suit. "Aw mum, I'll stay clean, I promise!" Mary hauled him away from the door and locked it firmly. As they walke

Thursday Thoughts # 22

“…..had done an impression of Alexander the Great and carved out one of the largest criminal empires in the world – assuming you didn’t count governments.” ##yes, well, if anyone in government reads this I may be in trouble of some sort, you know, slander laws and all...............(*~*) ## I just thought it was funny..... my thoughts today: There are two sides to everything.  How many times have we heard or said that?  And it's true there is always the other person's point of view. But what about the third side? What's that? you say, a third side? Here's another book quote to illustrate the point: (a conversation between two people) "....they weren't really sure he was on their side to begin with." "Which he isn't. He's on a third side." "Huh?" "He's on the side of compromise." There it is, side three.   Never really thought about that before, but it will always be a considerati

Musical Monday # 35

Musical Monday   I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site. I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.  I’ll be finding my clips on you tube , so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist. Today’s clip is: something a little different and I hope it works. We Need A Little Christmas , by the singers from Glee with a movie clip from Warehouse 13. if this uploads you will be watching a video clip made by my daughter K, with a song by the kids from Glee and a movie clip from the show Warehouse 13.   Many of you may not know about Warehouse 13.   It is science fiction, the Warehouse is a storage facility that houses many of the world's magical artifacts (Aladdin's Lamp etc) and keeps them dormant so no magic is released. Of course that doesn't
